EDU-Syria II Open day at Zarqa University

On Wednesday 18/01/2017, an open day was held at Zarqa University to introduce the funded programs for Syrian refugees (EDU- Syria II), which is run by the German Jordanian University and funded by the European Union in collaboration with Zarqa University, Jordan University of Science and Technology, and Al Quds College. Today a delegation from project EDU- Syria represented by the director of the project Dhiah Abou-Tair and the academic coordinator, Dr. Ala Khalifeh visited Zarqa University, and met with Syrian students who’s funded by EDU- Syria I and EDU- Syria II projects, and the visit focused on communicating with students. The European Newspapers Editors Visit Zarqa University

Yesterday, An editor’s delegation of European newspapers, visited the University of Zarqa, during the meeting they met with the manager of the EDU-SYRIA project, and students who have benefited from the Scholarship through the European Union. The president of Zarqa University Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Al Wadi welcomed the delegation, and provided them with an overview of the disciplines and the colleges within the university. Monitoring visit by independent observer on behalf of the EU

Last week, from 2nd until 10th of November 2016, a monitoring visit from an independent observer (Ms. Denise Colonna) on behalf of the EU visited EDU-SYRIA project, in order to evaluate the progress of the project, and during this visitation she met with the project partners Yarmouk University, Al Quds College and Zarqa University. EDU-SYRIA Third round interview at Zarqa University

Today the EDU-SYRIA II project delegation visited Zarqa University, during this meeting they met with student candidates for admission, totaling 300 students for the first semester of the academic year 2016/2017. This meeting was attended by EDU-SYRIA project manager (Dr. Dhiah Abou-Tair), the academic supervisor (Dr. Ala’ Khalifeh), a representative from the UNHCR (Dr. Awad El-Shiekh) and the British Council, and the students’ questions and inquiries were answered. The European Union (EU) officially approved the New starting of EDU-SYRIA II which is funded by EU Regional Trust Fund in Response to the Syrian crisis, the ‘Madad Fund’.
