Protracted Displacement Conference 3rd Day
The EDU-SYRIA/EDU-JORDAN program funded by the EU through the regional trust fund “Madad” in response to the Syrian crisis and managed by the German Jordanian University (GJU), co-sponsored and co-organized the third day of the virtual conference “Protracted Displacement: Hopes, Perspectives and Solutions?”, that took place On the 3rd of November 2020.
The conference discussed a variety of subtopics with the participation of many Authors and Co-Authors from worldwide universities and institutions, where it had the Refugee’s current situation and circumstances as the highlight of the conference. It discussed how Syrian Refugees are affected by the Covid-19 pandemic resulting in impacting their opportunities in the job market and academic sustainability in hosting countries. In addition, many other topics were tackled from effective hybrid learning in Jordan to Self- efficiency as a Mediator of Traumatic Events Among Palestinian Refugees.
The third day of the conference hosted three sessions targeting different areas of the Protracted Displacement situation in the region and worldwide. The sessions consisted of three main topics. Starting with the first session Labor Market Integration, Social Benefits, and Entrepreneurship, and moving on the second session Higher Education and Academic Displacements: A Continued Debate, and finally the third session discussing the Health and Psychosocial Support.
The conference was jointly hosted by EDU-SYRIA along with the GJU-Social Network, Refugees, Displaced Persons and Forced Migration Studies Center at Yarmouk University (YU), Freie Universität Berlin (FU Berlin), Academics in Solidarity (AiS), The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), The German Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD), and The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
