EDU-SYRIA Students Achieved First Place in the Inclusive Early Education Hackathon
EDU-SYRIA students of the Bachelor Scholarship Program (BSP) at Zarqa University, Tasneem Halawani and Shaimaa Al-Asimi from the College of Technology Engineering, Department of Architecture won the first place in The Community Innovation Challenge: The Inclusive Early Education Hackathon on Sunday 12th of February 2023.
The Community Innovation Challenge: The Inclusive Early Education Hackathon was organized by Leaders of Tommorow in partnership with Early Childhood Education for Jordanian and Syrian Children in Jordan – ECE (HEROES), implemented by The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The project aims to create additional capacities for kindergarten spaces, with a focus on reaching children from vulnerable families, displaced children, and children with disabilities.
The project of the students titled Happy Desk included innovative proposals and solutions to develop inclusive educational materials and interactive games to support early education in Jordan within kindergarten (KG1 & KG2) and support children with disabilities and from different cultural backgrounds such as refugees. The project embodied the idea of an office that enables students with disabilities with upper limbs to use their feet in writing and drawing, it is a local and international innovative unique project.
