EDU-SYRIA Management team visits Zarqa University

 Zarqa, Jordan.EDU-SYRIA management visited Zarqa University on September 20th. The team headed by the German Jordanian University (GJU) President and EDU-SYRIA Program Director Professor Dr. Manar Fayyad, and the programme manager Dr. Dhiah Abou-Tair were received   by the Head of the Board of Directors of Zarqa Company for Education and Investment, Dr. Mahmoud Abu-Shaera and the President of Zarqa University Professor, Dr. Bassam Al-Helou.   

“The visit comes is in line with the regular meetings held with Partner institutes to follow-up on educational programs funded by the EU and students’ academic status,” said Dr. Manar Fayyad.

Dr. Fayyad added that  Zarqa University has been EDU-SYRIA’s partner since 2015.  This partnership plays a great role in supporting Syrian refugees to get access to higher education through a set of scholarships. Dr. Fayyad thanked Dr. Mahmoud Abu-Shaera and Zarqa University for their ongoing support for EDU-SYRIA students.

During the visit, Dr. Bassam Al-Helou briefed the delegation on Zarqa University’s achievements by stressing the importance of the collaboration between EDU-SYRIA and Zarqa University. He then added that this cooperation is clearly seen by the number of students enrolled through EDU-Syria, 649 students so far.

Furthermore, Dr. Helou highlighted EDU-SYRIA’s academic corner in the campus where EDU-SYRIA students get the chance to meet, study, discuss and exchange their knowledge and experiences.

Additionally, EDU-SYRIA’s management team briefed the participants about the joint programs, the students’ academic progress and the programme’s future plans. Moreover, the following EDU-Syria team members also attended the meeting: Dr. Ala Khalifeh, Program Coordinator for Zarqa University, Ms. Sana Farraj, the Director of the Finance Department at GJU, Mr. Ahmad Alfalayleh, Assistant Director of the Finance Department, Mr. Ahmed Al-Qawasmeh, the Program Financial officer, and Mr. Fayed Siyaj,  Project Manager Assistant.
