EDU-SYRIA, HTU, and RUWWAD Join Forces to Support Underserved Jordanian Students in Technical Education
The collaboration will support 14 students while strengthening access to employment-oriented technical education and contributing to poverty reduction.
Amman, Jordan | 6 September 2026
Al Hussein Technical University (HTU) and RUWWAD Al-Tanmeya signed a partnership agreement, with the participation and support of the EDU-SYRIA Programme, to assist 14 financially vulnerable Jordanian students enrolled in HTU’s Technical Degree Programs.
The idea behind this collaboration emerged from the needs of underserved communities in Amman, particularly communities facing socioeconomic challenges, where many capable young people encounter financial barriers that limit their access to quality technical education.
Under the agreement, RUWWAD will contribute a portion of the students’ tuition fees, while the remaining amount will be covered through the EDU-SYRIA scholarship programme, managed by the German Jordanian University (GJU). This joint support will enable the selected students to continue and successfully complete their technical degree programmes.
The partnership aims to reduce the financial barriers that may prevent talented and deserving students from pursuing their education. It also reflects the partners’ shared commitment to empowering young people from underserved communities by providing them with practical skills, improving their employment prospects, and creating sustainable pathways out of poverty.
The signing ceremony was held at HTU in the King Hussein Business Park and featured remarks by Prof. Ismael Al Hinti, President of Al Hussein Technical University; Mr. Khaled Subeh Al-Masri, Zara Group Chairman and RUWWAD Founding Board Member and Vice Chair; and Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, President of the German Jordanian University.
During their remarks, the speakers emphasized the importance of collaboration between higher education institutions, civil society organizations, and scholarship programmes in expanding inclusive educational opportunities and equipping young people with skills that respond to labour-market needs.
This collaboration brings together HTU’s practice-oriented technical education, RUWWAD’s community-based approach, and EDU-SYRIA’s scholarship support. By combining their resources and expertise, the partners seek to enhance the quality and accessibility of technical education and enable students to build more secure and productive futures.
The agreement represents an important step toward ensuring that financial hardship does not prevent capable students from completing their studies. It also demonstrates how strategic partnerships can empower young people, strengthen their economic participation, and contribute to the sustainable development of underserved communities in Jordan.
Through this initiative, EDU-SYRIA, HTU, and RUWWAD reaffirm their commitment to making quality technical education more accessible and enabling students to create better futures for themselves, their families, and their communities.
