
EDU-SYRIA and Al Hussein Technical University Sign Partnership Agreement to Expand Technical Education Opportunities
Amman, Jordan – 31 August 2025 – The EDU-SYRIA programme, funded by the European Union (EU) and managed by the German Jordanian University (GJU), and Al Hussein Technical University (HTU), one of the Crown Prince Foundation initiatives, officially signed a partnership agreement at the German Jordanian University. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Adrian Fernandez Dickmanns, Attaché/Program Manager on Migration at the European Union Delegation to Jordan, along with representatives from GJU, HTU, and the EDU-SYRIA management team.
Under the partnership, 40 vocational education opportunities will be provided, including 20 for Jordanian youth who are benefiting from Al-Aman Fund, and 20 for Syrian refugees in the technical degree majors: Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence in the academic year 2025/2026.
This agreement was signed by Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, President of GJU, and Prof. Ismael Al-Hinti, President of HTU. This agreement represents a cornerstone in the EDU-SYRIA and HTU’s joint goal of facilitating access to higher education, developing professional and technical skills, and enhancing employability for Jordanian youths and Syrian refugees.
During the signing ceremony, participants highlighted the anticipated benefits of the partnership and reaffirmed their shared commitment to expanding access to quality technical education for young Jordanians and Syrian refugees in Jordan.

This collaboration will create new opportunities for Jordanian youth and Syrian refugees to access quality technical education, develop essential skills, and improve their future employability. Prof. Ismael Al-Hinti, President of HTU, said: “At HTU, we believe that education is not only a right but also a catalyst for opportunity and empowerment. This partnership with EDU-SYRIA and GJU is a significant step in our mission to bridge access to high-quality technical education for all, including vulnerable groups. By equipping Jordanian youth and Syrian refugees with advanced digital and technical skills, we aim to expand their employability and enable them to play a vital role in shaping a sustainable future for our communities.”
EDU-SYRIA programme is a consortium of 11 local and international partners: The German Jordanian University (consortium leader), DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service), Nuffic (Netherlands Universities Foundation for International Cooperation), Queen Rania Teacher Academy, Jordan University of Science and Technology, Yarmouk University, Mutah University, Zarqa University, Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Al Hussein Technical University, and Luminus Technical University College. The project also cooperates with Jordanian charitable funds: National Aid Fund, Tkiyet Um Ali, Al-Aman Fund, and Zakat Fund. Funded by the EU with EUR 37.6 million to date, it provides Jordanian youth and Syrian refugees access to higher education, vocational and technical training, teacher diplomas, entrepreneurship programs, labor market preparation, and summer courses. Since its launch in 2015, EDU-SYRIA has awarded over 4,000 scholarships.
